Scratch art begins with a covered surface. As we slowly carve into it, different colors and lines gradually emerge—much like our inner world, which holds a range of emotions and experiences, including joy, anticipation, exhaustion, and loneliness.
Through the creative exploration of scratch art, this workshop connects with the core concepts of suicide prevention gatekeeping. Participants will practice understanding their own emotions and those of others, learn to recognize signs that someone may need care and support, and explore how to ask, listen, and be there for someone.
Between each mark and line, we discover more shades of emotion, while practicing a little more understanding and taking a step closer to one another.
Seeing is the first step toward being there for someone.**
